To make up for those drafts, a lot of people will close off some rooms and put a portable space heater in the rooms that are most used.

I think YES! I hate to say this but the parents not doing a very good these days and I think the government should intervene for the good of children. I think all parents should have to attend in classes for a period of 18 months (maybe even 2 years) to get the help they need. Failure to attend will result in arrest and having your child removed from you and put a child's home. I think it will help cut down on youth crime, teenage pregnancy, underage drinking and drug use and abuse children (who do not want to cut down on it?), it is government's job to protect it's citizens. The parents have taught classes on nutrition, how to discipline (walking easily should be illegal imo), the best day cares to leave children and a recommendation on what books and toys of a child should have. I understand where you are coming from, but it is going a bit too far. Besides the government has done a miserable job well now, I might add, about the health of children. Just as view all samples of children unnecessarily removed from their homes and traumatized by it. Look at kids who get expelled from school for defending themselves. Look at 'healthy' food is given out by the WIC program – it is not healthy at ALL. Only a few example. I do not trust the govt. to set up effective mandatory parenting classes. About the legality of spanking:::: in Sweden physical punishment is illegal and has been for decades, I think since the 70's. AS A RESULTS OF ban, the% of young victims of physical abuse is significantly lowered. Incidence of child abuse is rare in this country. I wonder why? No legal consequences for parents to use physical punishments other than being required to attend classes being parents. Neat! countries it is solid proof of the effectiveness of the ban on spanking in preventing child abuse. And yet people still fight and fight against it here in the U.S.. Knuckleheads. Oh well. I guess I'll be happy that at least MY kids will have his head on straight when he grows up. What more could I ask?
