Keeping Children Safe In The Car

There are various rules and regulations that motorists should abide by when traveling with children. One of these is making sure a car seat is provided for all youngsters up to the age of 12 years. The booster seat will not need to be used once the child reaches at least 4 feet and 9 inches tall. Other indications of when a booster seat can be removed are when the shoulder strap of the seat belt goes across the shoulder NOT the neck and when the lap belt goes across the lap NOT the stomach. 

Some final things to note: ensure that all car seat and booster seat instructions are followed in order to be able to secure the seat in the vehicle. Read them before installing the seat in the vehicle. Also, teach children to be quiet and not distract you as this could cause accidents. Also, ensure that other things like bottles, books and toys are not hanging around in the vehicle as they could fly around and cause an accident when braking.
