Cheap Christmas Gifts For Grandparents

What are good, cheap but meaningful Christmas gifts to get for aunties and uncles, around 40?

I don’t want to show up for Christmas with nothing for aunties and uncles and my grandparents, but I am strapped for cash cos I’m a uni student. Whats something, possibly something the same for each person that I could give?

I like the christmas ornament idea — you can even get personalized ones at craft fairs or online. You could also do something with family photos — I don’t just mean albums (although you could do that), but maybe photo mugs or something. Photo websites (I use Kodak Gallery, but there are a bunch of them out there) can take your family photos and put them on everything from mugs to blankets to puzzles to mousepads to calendars to . . . . Great for inexpensive family gifts — you can do a mug for $12. I’ve done that for a couple of people on my list. If you are really strapped for cash, you can give homemade gift certificates for services to be performed by you — free babysitting or snow shoveling or lawn mowing or something of that kind. As long as you come through with them, I think people appreciate it. I once gave a new mom a gift certificate for a manicure, and a free baby-sitting certificate so she could leave the kids with me while she had a free afternoon getting the manicure, lunching and shopping. Didn’t cost me much in money, but it gave her a day to be a single girl, which she very much appreciated.

No offense to the person that suggested it, but I don’t like getting or giving charitable donations as presents. I feel like someone is getting themselves a tax deduction under the guise of a gift for me — and I know I’m not alone there.
