Many people have not heard from the SMA (spinal muscular atrophy). SMA is the number 1 genetic killer in babies under two years. 1 in 6000 children affected by SMA and 1 in 40 people carry the gene that causes the SMA. SMA causes muscles to waste away (atrophy). The muscles closest to the trunk of the body most affected and the muscles needed for breathing and swallowing. There are three basic types SMA, affects each person differently way, type 1 is the most serious type 3 the least. I have type 2, I have an electrical wheelchair since he was 3 years old and need assistance with everyday activity, muscle weakness due to me.
