Christmas Charity Gifts From UNICEF: Help Children In Need

The festive season is here once again, and with it comes a month of merriment and cheer. For many, it’s time to throw off the shackles of seriousness and to embrace the Silly Season. Visits to Santa, wrapping presents and decorating Christmas trees are all part of the fun. It’s a time to enjoy Christmas carols, parties and eating far too much food.

Christmas time can also be a time for confusion. Just what do you buy for people who seem to have everything? Most people have everything they need, and so Christmas becomes a time for buying silly presents that no one actually wants. Who needs a chocolate bar the size of a TV screen or a set of Santa place mats? Does anyone really need floating bath candles or a ‘World’s Best Grandad’ stubby holder?

Christmas is a time for giving. But that does not mean you have to give people rubbish they will never use. Christmas charity gifts are the perfect choice. By giving a charity gift, you are giving a gift that will be truly cherished. UNICEF offers a range of charity gifts that can have positive impact on the lives of many. Unlike a set of novelty napkin rings.

Embrace giving this Christmas and ‘Say No to Naff’. This year UNICEF is encouraging people to say no to buying ‘naff’ presents, and to give a gift that really counts. There is a wide variety of Christmas charity gifts available from their Inspired Gifts range, from pencils to four-wheel drive vehicles. You can choose from vaccines, therapeutic food packages, educational aids, and water pumps, depending on how you want to make a difference.

Each Christmas charity gift you buy from UNICEF includes a personalised card for the recipient of your gift. The card has a photograph and description of the gift you have chosen, and can be sent by post or by email. The charity gift will then be sent to one of the 155 countries in which UNICEF works, and will benefit children who are most in need at that time.

Another way to give at Christmas is to sponsor a child. Over 60 years working with children and families in need has taught UNICEF that these sponsorship programs do not always benefit the child. By causing problems within the child’s family and community, the programs can do more harm than good. Instead of offering a sponsor a child program, UNICEF gives you the chance to become a Global Parent. Donations given by Global Parents are sent to areas that are most in need, ensuring more children receive help, and that money goes into solving the underlying problem.

Give a gift that counts this Christmas. Say no to reindeer t-shirts and DVD box-sets, and help children who need it most. Give a charity gift or become a Global Parent and feel the festive cheer from helping others, rather than from too much Christmas brandy.
