Seeing that it’s almost Christmas, couples who have children in the family are wondering which games and videos have been voted the Best Selling  Christmas Toys and Gifts of the year.  We know that our boys and girls will be drafting  their Christmas lists with many of these top selling toys making their way onto it.  Toys like Elmo Live, Transformers, Monopoly, and PlayStation 3, just to name a few, will most likely be high on their lists.   But this is just the start of the process that is sarcastically referred to as the Christmas Shopping “experience”.   

As many a hardened Christmas shopper can testify, this involves scampering from store to store in search of a special toy or game, only to be advised that the desired Christmas item is sold out.  

Locating any of these Top 10 Christmas Gifts and Toys can frazzle even the most calmest of nerves!   And the longer you wait to start your Holiday Season shopping, the wilder it gets.  So, where can you find the answer to this recurring question, “Where do I find the best selling Christmas gifts and how can I get the best deal on them?”   And NO, this is not a trick question!

The Holiday Season Shopping Dilemma

How often do you find yourself trudging through all of your favorite toy retailers in search of the Top Selling toys from your youngsters’ Christmas Wish list?  Well there is an answer to your Christmas conundrum – your computer and Internet connection.

It’s no surprise that the Top 10 Christmas Toys will be gone the quickest, so shopping for these toys should take a high priority on your list of Holiday “chores”.   Holiday shopping can be a stress-free experience if done early in the season and Online.  

The cheap deals on the best selling toys can be found right after Thanksgiving Day, often referred to as Black Friday!  Not surprising, the concept of Black Friday has been expanded with blowout sales being advertised through the weekend, as well as, the first Monday after Turkey day.  This time of Christmas shopping mania is where you can find the largest discounts and specials on your Christmas gifts and the fullest shelves.

Minimal Kylie’s Jurassic Park Games

I have a nephew who absolutely adores his Jurassic Park toys. He sleeps with them, eats with them, and well, of course… he plays with them, day in and day out. Although it initially baffled me why this little kid would actually like spending all his time with these dinosaur figures because they actually look like the real thing only in a miniature size which means they DO look scary and ready to chase after you and bite you, after observing Kylie playing during one of the afternoons I looked after him, I realized it was the excitement and the imaginary adventure the Jurassic Park toys brought that ultimately thrilled Kylie.

I remember that hit Steven Spielberg movie came out when I was around 9 years old. Kylie’s a few years shy that age, but his dad already made him watch the movie to his delight. Shortly after that Kylie begged everyone for a Jurassic Park toy for his birthday. And because my sweet little nephew is a smarty pants, he even told his mom and dad that they had to give him one birthday gift each. Not the usual one big wrapped box with the tag saying: “Happy Birthday, Sweetie. We love you!” The more people he could ask for gifts, the more Jurassic Park toys he’d be getting.

I applauded my nephew for his tactics. I’m so impressed that at his young age he might be so creative when it comes to chasing after what he wants which i actually ended up buying him four Jurassic Park toys. I received him a Pteranodon which appears to be a bird, and Kylie, right after opening my first gift box, ran around flapping its wings and snapping its beak. In addition there are the Triceratops, definitely the among all four Jurassic Park toys I gave him. Not to mention the classic T-Rex and I added the young T-Rex once and for all measure. Kylie was just beyond ecstatic. He kept hugging me in delight. His parent and other family friends also included in his little number of dinosaurs. Kylie is now offering his very own little world all the Jurassic Park toys he got for his birthday.

Like I said, the make-believe adventure and journey those toys bring is really what helps it be so popular with my little nephew. I’m certain other little boys in existence would affirm.

I could only hope since Kylie satisfies his Jurassic Park toys making sure that if the time comes that he or she outgrows them, he could still pass this little adventurous world to what about a future little brother, a cousin… or you never know, possibly even his future kids.

Toy Fair came to Birmingham's Nec Arena

Toy Collectors Fair provides the public with a unique opportunity to take some rare toys either for their collections or just to have fun with. A regular event that stops the conference center across the country, it returns at Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre on May 4, 2008. Entrance is free for children under 16 and £ 5.50 adults, and the event is open from 10:30 to 4:00. However, early entry is available for a fee of £ 20, allowing the most eager collectors to gain access to the event from 07:30.

With 650 tables at the event, which is manned by some of the best dealers from collecting toys and models of the world. You may buy some great collectables old and new, including matchbox, Scalextric, soldiers, figures, dinky, Corgi, Lledo, TV Related goods from shows such as Batman or Starsky and Hutch, Sci-Fi memorabilia and toys, Star Wars collectables, model railways, Action Man, Beanie Babies, dolls, teddy bears, Bus, boat, farm animals and tractors, McDonalds happy meal toys, planes, display cabinets, books, videos, Disneyrama, and more.

As always, The Toy Collectors Fair is organized by the highly respected DJ Fairs. The idea for the DJ Fairs started over 30 years ago when Dave Jowett began one of the first 'Swapmeets' in a local pub in the village of Lambley, which is near Nottingham. Back then, both collectors will meet and exchange their collectables without any money changing hands. The Swapmeet was incredibly successful and grew in size until it became aware Collectors Toys Fair and we love today. Since then, the Fair will be held at various venues in Nottingham, as well as throughout the rest of the country. Some of the area's Toys Collectors are calling and fair this year Doncaster racecourse, Exeter Westpoint, Donnington Park and the Yorkshire Event Centre in Harrogate.

The Birmingham event will be held in the brand-new Hall 18 National Exhibition Centre. You'll find free parking and some great facilities for traders and visitors alike there.
